Atomic Comics #1 is a Canadian Golden Age one-shot published by the obscure Daniels Publications of Toronto in January 1946. The issue leads with the jetpack hero Rocketman — alongside his partner Rocketgirl — and rounds out its anthology pages with Yankee Boy, Master Key, and humor-and-sport filler strips. Despite the topical, atomic-age title rushed out in the wake of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the interior stories are not new: they are reprints of material from Harry A. Chesler's studio, pulled from earlier U.S. books such as Scoop Comics #3 (1942) and Punch Comics #11 (1944). Only the Rocketman cover, by artist Harry Thomson, appears to be newly drawn for this edition.

The book sits at a strange crossroads of comics history. In late 1945 the United States saw a burst of atom-bomb-inspired titles — Atoman Comics, Atomic Thunderbolt, Atomic Comics, and Atomic Man in Headline Comics — and Canada produced its own Atomic Comics with the same cover-date but different contents. The U.S. version was published by David Korneman's Green Publishing Co. and contained a mix of likely unauthorized reprints, probably assembled to be first to claim the "Atomic Comics" title. The Canadian Daniels edition has the same profile, and its publisher remains poorly documented — the indicia address traces to a Toronto hotel rather than a known publishing house.

For collectors and historians today, the appeal is precisely this murkiness: it is a scarce, end-of-WWII Canadian artifact that captures both the atomic-age zeitgeist and the chaotic, reprint-driven, copyright-grey world of mid-1940s publishing. It is also a late stop for Chesler's quirky superhero stable before those characters faded — making it a useful footnote in the histories of Rocketman, Master Key, and the broader Chesler universe.
