Forbidden Worlds #7 (American Comics Group, July 1952) is a seven-story pre-Code anthology and a small landmark in the series' history: it was the title's first monthly issue, the point at which ACG's supernatural line shifted from bimonthly to a full newsstand schedule. Ken Bald's cover pits two formidable monsters against each other; inside, the book opens with a vampire lord in "The Vampires Strike" and closes with "The Prowling Terror", a werewolf story drawn by Pete Riss in which a Dr. Jarro arrives from Europe just as a wolfman starts hunting — and the two facts turn out to be related, with Allan Taylor and his fiancée Alice caught between the impostor and the man whose name he stole, Ludwig Gaynor. Between them sit "Ghost Friends", the science-fiction excursion "The Realm of the Moonsters" (Dale, Betty, Bob and Satella against the title creatures), "The Ghouls Return", "Merciless Medium" and the Faustian "The Gambler and the Devil". Interior art across the issue comes from George Wilhelms, Harry Lazarus, Sam Cooper, King Ward and Riss, under editor Richard E. Hughes.

Forbidden Worlds launched in July/August 1951 as a dime comic subtitled "Exploring the Supernatural!", the companion to ACG's Adventures into the Unknown — the medium's first ongoing horror title. ACG was a small, resolutely independent New York publisher founded by Benjamin W. Sangor and co-owned by Fred Iger, and its horror line cultivated a house style noticeably distinct from the competition: atmospheric and often wry, far lighter on gore and sexual content than the EC and Harvey books of the same year. That restraint is one reason both ACG horror titles survived the 1954 Senate subcommittee hearings and the arrival of the Comics Code without wholesale reinvention. The series ran 145 issues to August 1967, was briefly rebranded Young Heroes in 1955, and won the 1964 Alley Award for Best Regularly Published Fantasy Comic. The move to monthly with this issue marks the commercial high-water mark of the pre-Code horror boom — the moment when publishers believed the appetite for monsters was effectively bottomless.

Read today, issue #7 is a compact catalogue of the Universal-monster imagination as it filtered into cheap 1952 print: the vampire, the ghoul, the medium, the devil's wager and — most tellingly — a werewolf story that reaches for the word "Wolfman" rather than any older folkloric term, betraying exactly where its author got the idea. It also documents the industry mechanics of the boom: seven stories, seven monsters, one dime, once a month. And because the 1952 material is generally treated as public domain in the United States, this number remains freely readable through Comic Book Plus and the Digital Comic Museum, making it an unusually cheap primary source for a genre whose canonical titles now cost four figures.
