All Romances #1 (August 1949) is the debut issue of a six-issue romance anthology from Ace's AA Wyn imprint, published at the peak of the post-war romance comics boom. Each issue contains several self-contained stories of love, jealousy, and heartbreak aimed at a female readership: the first issue leads with a story in which Michael Collins praises the beauty of Faye Lawrence — until a train wreck changes everything — and follows it with a tale of Fran, too afraid to introduce her boyfriend Jeff to her family because her stepsister Rita has a habit of stealing every man she brings home. Further stories include the saga of Abby, an orphan groomed by her Aunt Magda for a singing career, and a reader advice column on female independence. The cover, drawn and signed by L. B. Cole, showcases his signature use of bold primary colours and a striking close-up of a young couple — one of the more elegant examples of his romance cover work.

All Romances appeared just two years after Joe Simon and Jack Kirby's Young Romance (1947) had created the romance comics genre, and it rode the same wave of titles flooding newsstands in 1949. Published under Ace's AA Wyn imprint with a newsstand cover price of $0.10, the series ran six issues through June 1950 and shared its stable of artists and reprinted content with the broader Ace romance catalogue — Glamorous Romances, Real Love, Revealing Romances, and Love Experiences — an interconnected web of titles through which Ace systematically recirculated material across its romance line throughout the 1950s.

Today All Romances #1 is collected primarily for its L. B. Cole cover. Cole — born Leonard Brandt Cohen in 1918 and a recipient of the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame (1999) — was celebrated for his "poster color" technique and bold graphic covers. His romance covers are considered rarer and more distinctive than his horror work, and the series is freely available in digital form through public-domain archives, making it an accessible primary source for researchers studying gender, popular culture, and visual design in late-1940s America.
