G.I. in Battle #1 is a Silver Age war comic book, published in March 1957 by Ajax (the Ajax-Farrell operation of publisher Robert W. Farrell). This debut issue collects Korean War-era battlefield anthology stories — including "The Tunnel of Doom!", "Plot in Chumunjin", "Season for Ducks", "Crooks and Rooks!", and "Even the Score?" — in which American G.I.'s set traps for enemy soldiers, endure the misery of the Korean rainy season, and an army cook itching for combat finally gets his chance when enemy agents storm the camp.

The title is a Comics-Code-era revival of Farrell's earlier war series G-I in Battle (1952–1953), and most of its content is reprinted and re-lettered from those pre-Code books. The revival reflects the changed landscape after the 1954 Comics Code Authority: the most graphic violence and the racial slurs of the originals were scrubbed and softened, replaced with generic Cold War language like "reds" and "commies." It was the first issue in the series to carry the Comics Code seal on its cover. Ajax-Farrell folded in 1958, ending the run at six issues.

Today G.I. in Battle #1 is of interest mainly to collectors of Silver Age war comics and historians of the Comics Code era. It offers a vivid case study in post-Code editing — the same panels and scripts as the 1950s originals, altered to meet new content standards — making it a useful artifact for understanding how censorship reshaped Cold War comics.
