Radim Palán – Speed Skiing

Radim Palán was born on February 20, 1987 in Prague and is the Czech national representative in speed skiing – a discipline in which skiers wearing aerodynamic suits and minimizing air resistance reach speeds over 200 km/h. He holds the national ski speed record of 248.22 km/h, set in March 2023 at the French resort of Vars.

At the 2024 World Championships in Vars, he reached a speed of 230.57 km/h and took silver, beaten by less than a kilometer per hour only by home favorite Simon Billy. In the 2023 season he finished third overall in the Speed Skiing World Cup, and in 2025 he became Czech national champion. Beyond classic on-snow racing, he's also known for unusual stunt feats – in October 2023 he entered the Czech Book of Records with a speed of 208.22 km/h while skiing on the roof of a moving car (Audi RS6 Avant), which was at the time the fastest GPS-measured score of its kind in the world.

Off the racing track, he works as a ski coach, instructor, and technician, organizes sports competitions and client events, and splits his time between Europe, the USA, and New Zealand. He is also a father of two and, in his free time, competes in ski cross, where he is a multiple Czech vice-champion.
