K-O Komics #1 (1945) is a Golden Age American superhero anthology — and the only issue ever published — from the obscure New York outfit Gerona Publishing Co. The book is a grab-bag of debuting costumed heroes and gag features: the masked vigilante Duke of Darkness (alter ego Paddy Sullivan), the bizarre powerhouse Magnificent Epod, the villain-turned-headliner The Menace (Dennis Temple), and lighter material like Prof. Jabberwacky shorts on ostriches and whales. Every featured character makes its first — and effectively last — appearance here, giving the issue the flavor of a pilot that never got a second flight.

The title is a classic artifact of the late-war "fly-by-night" publishing boom, when paper rationing eased and dozens of tiny imprints rushed cheap anthologies to newsstands. Gerona shared stories, art, and even a red-banner page design with sister/affiliated one-shots like Top Spot Comics and the Red Band Comics line. Art has been attributed — with ongoing debate among historians — to journeymen such as Sam Cooper, August Froehlich, Harold Sherman, and a young John Giunta, several of whom worked across these interlinked obscure titles.
